The Vivitar 2x Macro Focusing Teleconverter is a multi-purpose accessory. This teleconverter is essentially a helical extension tube combined with a 2x teleconverter. The helical extension tube provides and adjustable extension tube that allows for a range of macro magnifications. Using a 50mm lens the user can achieve up to 1:1 magnification. In addition it serves as a 2x teleconverter, doubling the effective focal length of any lens mounted to it - at the loss of two stops of light. As an example, a 50mm f2 becomes a 100mm f4 macro lens. This is an incredibly inexpensive, yet effective, means of adding both a macro lens and a telephoto lens to your arsenal without having to buy expensive new lenses.
This Vivitar 2x Macro Focusing Teleconverter is designed for Pentax K lenses, specifically the earlier PK-M lenses.
